King Charles left with ‘no option’ for ‘unstable’ Andrew after scandal | Royal | News

Sources claimed King Charles was left with “no choice” but to provide for the “unstable” Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, and the monarch’s last hope was to be able to “contain” his disgraced brother. The former Duke of York, who no longer holds any titles or honors and retains commoner status, suffered further humiliation last week when the US Department of Justice released the latest chapter of the Jeffrey Epstein files.
Andrew is mentioned in many documents. Although his name is mentioned in the Epstein files, the former prince’s repeated appearances in Epstein’s circle have cast a dark cloud over the monarchy, with the King undermining his titles last year and forcing him to leave the Royal Lodge this year. The king’s brother was flown to Norfolk earlier this week after newly released files brought further shame to his name; Some of these were photographs of him kneeling over a woman’s corpse while he was on all fours.
The latest revelations about Andrew prompted the King, who was facing a difficult situation, to “expedite” Andrew’s evacuation from Royal Lodge to Norfolk.
A palace source told Times: “The king feels he has no choice but to provide for his brother, which will be privately financed from a private estate.
“Every time he tried to support himself by independent means, it led to bigger problems. Keeping him under control is hope.”
Sources close to the monarch said Epstein’s latest comments were “shocking and distressing” and described Andrew as “unstable”.
Another friend of the king said Andrew’s wanderings around Windsor when the Epstein scandal broke was the last straw for the monarch, who was keen to remove his brother from Windsor and the public eye.
His friend said: “The King is extremely aware of the people’s feelings. He does not need to be pressured to understand the mood of the nation. We are accelerating it.” [Andrew] The final exit from the Royal Lodge was another nod to show that he understood this. A plan made is not a plan put into effect, and the King wanted that plan to be implemented as soon as possible.
“The King feels that keeping his brother out of the public eye and out of any public expenditure is the right thing to do. Andrew is no longer a burden on the public purse and the King has done his best to remove him from the public eye, but the truth is that he cannot remove him from the public consciousness.”
Buckingham Palace has been contacted for comment.
Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing. He did not comment on the latest statements.
