3 Doors Down lead singer Brad Arnold dies at 47 years old from cancer

Brad Arnold, lead singer and founding member of the popular rock band 3 Doors Down, has passed away after a battle with cancer. He was 47 years old.
According to the statement obtained by Fox News Digital, Arnold “passed away peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by his loved ones, after a courageous fight with cancer” on Saturday, February 7.
“As the founding member, vocalist and original drummer of 3 Doors Down, Brad helped redefine mainstream rock music by blending post-grunge accessibility with emotionally direct songwriting and lyrical themes that resonated with casual listeners,” the statement said.
The statement praised Arnold’s songwriting, which “has become a cultural touchstone for a generation.”

The band’s breakout hit, “Kryptonite,” was written by Arnold “in math class when he was just 15 years old,” the statement said. “His music resonated far beyond the stage, creating moments of connection, joy, faith, and shared experiences that will endure long after the scenes he performed on.”
“Above all, he was a devoted husband to Jennifer, and his kindness, humor, and generosity touched all who were lucky enough to know him. Those closest to him will remember not only his talent, but also his warmth, humility, faith, and deep love for his family and friends.”
The statement ended by expressing how “deeply grateful” he was his family “for the love and support during this difficult time” and asked for privacy.
“He will be deeply missed and forever remembered,” the statement concluded.

The group also shared the statement on X, and many fans shared their heartbreak in the comment sections.
One fan wrote: “What a loss but so lucky to have Brad and all of your music grace our lives. Prayers to Brad’s family and the band,” while another added: “There will never be a voice as comforting as his. The music of 3 Doors Down is one of the greatest! Prayers for his family at this time.”
Arnold first announced in May 2025 that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. He posted a video on Instagram in which he told his fans, “I have some not-so-good news for you today.”
The Mississippi native said he was hospitalized a few weeks ago after feeling unwell, at which time doctors diagnosed him with clear cell renal cell carcinoma that had “metastasized to my lung.”

Later in the video, he reassured fans that he wasn’t afraid of the diagnosis, but added that they would have to force them to cancel all upcoming performances for their tour.
“Thank you for all the memories so far. I now believe ‘Not My Time’ is truly my song,” she wrote in the video’s caption. “This is going to be a war so we need our prayers warriors! Thank you all for being the best fans in the world. We love you all!”
3 Doors Down was formed in 1996 by Arnold and his bandmates Todd Harrell and Matt Roberts while they were still in high school. Their debut album “The Better Life” was released in 2000 and was a huge success; It featured many of his hits, including “Kryptonite”, “Loser” and “Be Like That”.
