Savannah Guthrie’s plea: ‘we will pay’ for mum’s return

US Today host Savannah Guthrie reached out to her elderly mother’s kidnappers with a desperate video request, saying ‘we will pay’ for her safe return.
“We have received your message and we understand. We are begging you to give us back our mother so we can celebrate with her,” Guthrie said in the video appearing alongside his siblings on Saturday.
“This is the only way we can achieve peace. This is very valuable to us, we will pay the price.”
It was not immediately clear whether Guthrie was referring to a new message from someone who may have kidnapped Nancy Guthrie.
The Associated Press has reached out to the Pima County Sheriff’s department for more details.
The frantic search for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie has entered its seventh day. Sheriff Chris Nanos said this week that authorities have not identified any suspects or ruled out anyone.
Authorities believe he was taken against his will over the weekend from his home just outside Tucson. DNA tests showed that blood on Guthrie’s front porch matched his, Nanos said.
Family members told authorities they last saw Guthrie on Jan. 31 at 9:48 p.m., when they dropped him off home after having dinner and playing games together.
The next day, his family found out he didn’t go to church. After they went to check on him, they reported him missing.
Guthrie has a pacemaker and requires daily medication. His family and authorities are worried that his health may deteriorate day by day.
