Melbourne father reveals staggering amount he spent to get family to the Super Bowl

An Australian spent a staggering amount of money to help his family attend their first Super Bowl.

A Melbourne father revealed in an interview with an NBC reporter that went viral on social media that he paid an eye-watering $150,000 to take his family of five to Levi Stadium in California for a game between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks.

The fan, wearing a Patriots T-shirt, told the TV reporter: “Tickets cost a fortune, right?

“Coming from Australia, I think I spent $150,000. There were five of us, so the tickets were 80,000, AU$80,000.”

Clearly stunned, the reporter then joked whether the family could afford to sit on the field for that price.

“Where are you sitting? Are you on the field for 150 thousand?”

Dad said they were at level one.

“Yes, yes, we are at level one so we are… right… expensive,” he added.

The father then reveals to the stunned reporter that he spent $65,000 on flights alone.

“They were about $13,000 each, which is business class but priceless,” he said.

“We’re here to win and it’s going to be a memory for a lifetime for these kids. It’s going to be great.”
