Carlton premiership player Peter Dean injured after assault in Albury
Carlton big man Peter Dean is recovering from facial and head injuries sustained in an attack in Albury on Monday night.
Dean was picking up a takeaway when he approached a small group of teenagers about their behavior and was attacked moments later in Smollet Street, Albury.

He was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening head and facial injuries before being taken to Albury Base Hospital.
The police interviewed three young people in the area and confiscated their mobile phones. A 17-year-old young man was arrested.
“Following an investigation by detectives from the Murray River Police District, police arrested a 17-year-old male,” a police spokesman said.
“He was taken to Albury Police Station. The teenager will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.”

A gritty defender, Dean was a member of the Blues’ first teams in 1987 and 1995. Respect for Carlton is also reflected in the fact that the club’s youth academy is named after its 248-cap back.
His son Harry joined the club as a father-son pick at No. 3 in last year’s draft and is expected to make his AFL debut in the early rounds of the season.
