Tottenham Hotspur sack head coach Thomas Frank after eight months in charge
Tottenham Hotspur have sacked manager Thomas Frank after eight months in charge, the Premier League club said on Wednesday, after poor results left the north London club five points above the relegation zone.
The pressure was mounting on Frank and Tuesday’s 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle United left his team 16th in the table with 29 points from 26 games and staring into the relegation zone.

“Thomas was appointed in June 2025 and we are committed to giving him the time and support he needs to build the future together,” Spurs said in a statement.
“However, results and performances have led the Board to conclude that a change is required at this point in the season.”
Frank, who joined Brentford in 2018 and turned them into a top-flight club after promotion, has struggled to replicate those methods at last season’s Europa League champions Tottenham.
The writing appeared to be on the 52-year-old’s wall after Tuesday’s 11th league defeat against Newcastle United.
The fans left no doubt about their feelings, with loud chants in the club’s stadium and chants of “You’re fired in the morning” towards Frank.
It was Tottenham’s seventh home league defeat in the Premier League this season, and they have won just two of their 13 league games in front of their own fans.
Tottenham fans were also chanting the name of former coach Mauricio Pochettino, who guided them to the 2019 Champions League final, on Tuesday. The Argentine player is currently the coach of the US men’s national team.
