Rs 2 cr fine, 3 yrs in jail: Industrialist Manoj Jayaswal gets rigorous imprisonment for using forged documents to obtain coal block

A CBI court in Delhi was sentenced to three years of imprisonment for using false documents to get the Mahuagarhi coal block in Jharkhand.
The block was allocated to Jas infrastructure and Capital Private Limited, where Jayaswal was the general manager at that time.
The court also fined Jayaswal 5 Lakh and RS 2 Crore.
This case is part of a wider investigation of coal block allocation fraud, including private companies between 2006 and 2009.
After the court’s decision, Jayaswal demanded that the sentence be suspended in order to appeal at the Supreme Court of Delhi.
The court accepted the claim, “Considering the applications, the prison sentence given to the convict will be suspended for 60 days and each one of the RS 1 Lakh was accepted after bail after the bail.Entrances from TOI
