South Carolina State University shooting kills 2 people, injures 1

Two people were killed and at least one person was injured in a shooting on campus at South Carolina State University on Thursday.

The university confirmed the incident in a statement and added that the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) was investigating the attack.

No information was given about the identities of those who lost their lives and the condition of the injured.

The university said it quarantined the campus around 9:15 p.m. Thursday after a report of a shooting at an apartment in the Hugine Suites student housing complex.

The campus is quarantined starting from 01:00 at night.

The university’s Department of Public Safety is assisted by the Orangeburg Department of Public Safety and the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office in patrolling on and around campus.

The university said Friday classes were canceled and counselors were available for students.
