Somireddy Slams YSRC, Seeks Law Against Insulting Parents

Nellore: Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy on Friday criticized the YSRC in the Assembly and accused it of disrupting the Governor’s speech and weakening institutions during its five-year rule.

He said the governor’s speech reflected the performance of the coalition government under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and highlighted rising investor confidence and economic growth.

According to him, the state’s GDP increased from ₹ 15.91 lakh crore to ₹ 17.62 lakh crore with a growth rate of 10.75 per cent, while per capita income increased to ₹ 2.95 lakh. He also touched upon major investments, including the ₹ 1.36 lakh crore Google data center project in Visakhapatnam after the meetings in Davos.

Referring to the Supreme Court’s remarks on the alleged Rs 3,200 crore liquor scam, Somireddy said those facing serious charges should withdraw from public life.

He called on the government to enact a special law with non-bailable provisions against those who insult parents, stating that such behavior must be strictly punished. He added that the state was progressing well under the coalition government with the support of Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan and the Centre.
