Man’s body found in river west of Melbourne
Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in the Maribyrnong River west of Melbourne on Saturday morning.
Emergency services were called to the riverbank in Avondale Heights just before 11.30am after the man was found unresponsive in the water.
It is not yet known how long the body was in the water and whether the man’s death is considered suspicious.
Photos taken from the scene show police and detectives examining the river bank and a blue body bag was found nearby.
Police have appealed for anyone with information about the man’s death to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
