UK weather: Sunny start to weekend ahead of snow and ice warnings

After days and weeks of dreary skies and incessant rain for some, there has finally been a change in weather conditions in the UK.
Arctic weather in the UK means the weekend will start cold and frosty with some snow and ice, especially in northern parts.
But there will be plenty of sunshine for most on Saturday.
However, this will be temporary as the rain spreads with more snow and ice into Sunday.
The Met Office’s yellow warnings for ice and snow across Scotland and northern England have been issued from 21:00 GMT until 10:00 on Sunday.
Rain will temporarily turn to snow to low levels of a few centimetres, then remain limited to 15cm on higher ground.
There may be some disruption to travel on Sunday morning as some icy conditions are also possible.
In response to the predicted Arctic blast, the UK Health Security Agency also Yellow health warning issued, external For colder weather across northern England and the Midlands, which will remain in force until 8am on Monday.
They warn that the weather conditions are likely to have “minor impacts on health and social care services, including increased use of health services and increased risk to the lives of vulnerable people”.
Our BBC Weather Watchers have captured the weather across the UK.
