– Livigno: Jakara Anthony bounced back from the heartbreak of missing out on a medal three days ago to win gold in the women’s double emperors on Saturday, becoming the first Australian to win two gold medals at the Winter Olympics.

It is Australia’s third gold medal at the 2026 Olympics and the most the country has won in a single Winter Games, after Cooper Woods won gold in the senior category two days ago and Josie Baff won gold in snowboard cross yesterday.

As snow continued to fall throughout all stages of the competition, in brutal conditions Anthony put in an unwavering performance, beating five other competitors on his way to the top of the podium in the dual competition where skiers race side by side.

Saturday’s result was atonement for the 27-year-old, who was favorite to win gold in the women’s category three days ago, but missed the podium despite suffering a loss in the final, finishing eighth.

The result, which claimed victory after knocking out gold and silver medalists Elizabeth Lemley and Jaeline Kauf in the semi-finals and final three days earlier, reinforced Anthony as one of the best in the sport.

Anthony’s victory meant Kauf won his second Mongolian silver at the 2026 Games, while Lemley earned bronze.
