Winter Olympics 2026: GB women spring shock to beat world champions Canada

Britain’s men also claimed victory on Saturday, immediately responding to defeat against Italy by beating the Czech Republic 7-4.
It would have been more comprehensive for Bruce Mouat’s track if it weren’t for the abundance of ugly shots that skipped Czech Lukas Klima’s tricks.
But the world champions ultimately secured a victory that takes their record to three wins and one defeat and leaves them well placed to advance to the last four.
“We were in control but we couldn’t really break free,” Mouat told BBC Sport. “We just had to stick with it and we felt pretty comfortable.”
As in the women’s tournament, six wins from nine matches should be enough to advance to the semi-finals.
The men will face Germany (08:05 GMT) and Switzerland (18:05) on Sunday, while the women will look to continue their improbable revival against another fancy venue, Sweden (13:05).
