Barack Obama Hits Back at Trump Over Racist Ape Video

Former President Barack Obama He broke his silence about the President Donald Trump posting a video showing both himself and his wife Michelle Obama Like monkeys, they argue that there is a lack of “shame” among the president’s supporters.
Obama attended Brian Tyler Cohen For the Saturday episode of his podcast, in which the former president touched on a variety of topics, but first addressed Trump’s controversial video post on social media and has since blamed an unidentified employee.
The video, posted on Trump’s Truth Social, depicted some politicians as animals, but initially depicted Obama’s faces on monkeys, an image that was widely condemned as racist. Trump has defended that mandate ever since.
“It was a video about voter fraud, as you know, and it was a pretty long video, and they had a little bit about ‘The Lion King.’ It did very well; it was shown everywhere long before it was released. But it was a very powerful piece, and I’m sure you’ve seen it, a very powerful piece about voter fraud. And the piece that you’re talking about has been everywhere, I think, many times over the years,” he told reporters this week.
Cohen asked Obama about the general “devolution” of political discourse; He talked about the monkey video, administration officials’ rhetoric about ICE raids and shootings, and more.
“Just a few days ago, Donald Trump put up a picture of you with your face on a monkey’s body, and so once again we saw a sort of delegation of discourse. How do we get back from where we fell?” he asked.
Obama emphasized that he believed the “majority” of Americans found the video more disturbing. He also called out the president’s supporters for their lack of “shame.” He argued that Trump’s video was a “distraction” and part of a “clown show” played out on social media and television.
The former president said:
First of all, I think it’s important to recognize that the majority of the American public finds this behavior deeply disturbing. It is true that it attracts attention. It’s true that it’s distracting, but as I travel around the country, as you travel around the country, you meet people – they still believe in kindness, kindness, kindness, and there’s a sort of clown show going on on social media and on television, and what’s true is that there doesn’t seem to be any shame about it among people who think you have to have some sense of manners, etiquette, and respect for the office. So this is lost.
