Son of a former gun primed to continue winning form
The progressive four-year-old home run kid is set to take the next step when he lines up at the Newcastle meeting at the Beaumont track on Monday.
Piccaderro, a son of Group 1 star Pierro in the Jason Deamer stable, competes at a moderate challenge in the men’s Benchmark 58 Handicap over 1150 metres.

This comes three weeks after she returned to Port Macquarie from the back for the first time and unloaded her maiden after finishing the track in Midway Maiden at Wyong last winter.
And the form for this race looks strong; Second-placed Wan Lost was trained by Kris Lees at Newcastle, then narrowly lost out to a deeper maiden at Gosford.
More importantly, it came after connections scratched the gelding due to heavy ground in a very winnable Grade 1 Handicap (1280m) at Muswellbrook last Monday.
Another development that improved his chances was the booking of leading jockey Aaron Bullock for the first race.
Bullock’s only other time at Piccaderro was a trial early last winter, shortly after the horse was transferred to Newcastle from the Ciaron Maher stable.
Piccaderro has had four different jockeys in four runs since then.
He is the only runner from the Deamer stable in the Beaumont program who is expected to run on solid ground.
