Dua opened up about her struggle to maintain long-distance relationships while giving advice to a fan who had moved away for work.
The One Kiss singer took on a new role as an agony aunt on lifestyle site Service 95 and was asked for tips on ‘staying in touch with loved ones on the other side of the world’.
Dua was the perfect person to ask, as she had just completed a year-long Radical Optimism tour that saw her travel the world and leave her London-based fiancé Callum and his family.
He replied: ‘That’s something I’ve had to learn pretty well over the years, especially during touring seasons!
‘I’ll start by saying this: It gets easier over time, but it never stops being hard.
‘It’s hard being away from your family. It’s not just the big events you’re missing; It’s an accumulation of small moments that can leave you feeling out of sync with each other.’
But after acknowledging the challenges, Dua concluded on an optimistic note: ‘Yes, relationships change with distance, but love does not.
‘In fact, this feeling can be even stronger when you can’t see each other all the time.’

The famous actor, who is at the top of the charts, also talked about his past separations after he received a letter from a fan who lost his trust after his sister broke up.
Dua, who dated model Anwar Hadid and chef Isaac Carew before finding love with Callum, replied: ‘Breakups are never easy, I know this first hand and it’s awful to watch someone you love take a blow.
‘When someone’s self-confidence takes a hit, your instinct is often to immediately give big affirmations: You’re amazing! Fuck them! But I can tell you that it’s not always what they want or need to hear right away.
‘Sometimes the best thing you can do is just be there and be trustworthy.
‘Let him say, ‘This makes me feel like shit,’ without trying to fix it or give it a positive spin.
‘Breakups are confusing, and having the space to feel the weight of it can be really healing.’
Writing on her website, Dua said of her new role: ‘I’ve been told before that I give good advice, so this certainly puts that claim to the test!
‘Either way, I’ve absolutely loved reading every single submission, so a huge thank you to everyone who participated.
‘It was really fun and I hope my advice helps you in some way.’
