Border czar Tom Homan makes surprising admission about ICE agents wearing masks as he lauds Minnesota operation as a huge success

Donald Trump’s border czar Tom Homan made a surprising admission while defending ICE agents wearing masks while on duty in Minnesota.

Even though he didn’t like it himself, Homan staunchly advocated for agents to wear masks “for safety reasons” and defended ICE efforts during the Metro Surge in Minnesota as “a victory.”

he confessed CBS NewsEd O’Keefe on Sunday: ‘As for the mask look, you know I don’t like masks either.

‘But as threats against ICE officers increased by over 1,500 percent, actual attacks and threats increased by over 8,000 percent. These men and women have to protect themselves.’

Homan denied claims that they could not be identified, saying all agents were wearing banners.

‘There are identifying marks but the masks, you know, why aren’t they talking about passing a law to make dox agents illegal or something like that?’ he asked. ‘But masks are currently used for officer safety reasons.’

The former immigration officer cited Todd Lyons, the director of ICE, as one reason agents feared being identified.

“Just yesterday, the director of ICE’s wife was filmed leaving for work,” he told O’Keefe. ‘Home address deleted. ‘His children’s personal information was disclosed and filmed.’

‘I do not know of any other institution in this country that has increased by 8000 percent’ [in threats].’

While staunchly defending his agents’ decisions to conceal their identities, Homan praised ICE’s work during the so-called Metro Wave in Minnesota.

When asked about the agency’s efforts to terminate the sanctuary city, Homan said they would ‘go back to the original footprint.’

‘We have already removed more than 1,000 people and we will remove a few hundred more starting Monday, Tuesday,’ he said.

‘With the exception of the agents who are there to investigate the fraud, we will return to the original footprint, stay there and continue their work until they are finished.’

‘But when our agents go out, when they are surrounded by agitators and things get out of control, there will be a small security force, what we call an RFQ, that will intervene.

‘They will remain here briefly to ensure our coordination and agreements with local state law enforcement remain in place and to respond to a public safety threat when necessary.’

The border czar tasked with easing the tense atmosphere in Minnesota following the ICE raids and the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti said he hoped law enforcement could be removed “pretty quickly.”

‘We’ve arrested and deported a record number of criminal aliens in this country because it’s one team, one fight. ‘The results speak for themselves.’

Homan’s praise for the agency came as a partial government shutdown focused on the Department of Homeland Security began Saturday.

Disagreements over immigration reform have left Democrats and the White House inactive.

Democrats’ demands for ICE include requiring body cameras and identification, banning masks, stopping racial profiling and issuing judicial warrants for arrests on private property, media reported.

Homan told the press that racial profiling ‘just doesn’t happen’ and that any arrests or interrogations were based on ‘reasonable suspicion’.

‘This has nothing to do with racial profiling,’ he said, adding that ICE agents were ‘acting within federal law.’

homan said CNN Stating that the closure will not affect operations, he said: ‘The immigration mission, which is the reason why President Trump was elected president, continues.’
