Bill Gates Pats AP Govt’s RTGS Services
Hyderabad: The Government of Andhra Pradesh Real-Time Governance Community has received recognition from Bill Gates, chairman of the Gates Foundation. The global Technology giant visited the RTGS headquarters at Andhra Pradesh Secretariat here today.
During an hour-long stay at the RTGS headquarters, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu gave a detailed presentation on the functioning of RTGS in delivery of civil services using data lake, AWARE 2.0, Whatsapp governance, Sanjeevani health project and Amaravati capital development. Bill Gates showed great interest and asked the Prime Minister for detailed information on some issues.
When the Prime Minister announced that people’s satisfaction levels with government services were collected through RTGS, Bill Gates appreciated the system and asked about the steps taken to protect people’s land records. The Prime Minister said the government is using blockchain technology and QR code to prevent tampering of land records.
Bill Gates also briefed about the implementation of Sanjeevani healthcare project implemented in Kuppam constituency with the support of Gates Foundation. When Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said that the state government maintains health records of all people using AI, Bill Gates appreciated the Prime Minister’s efforts and stated that diagnostic services should be made available to the poor at a low price.
Bill Gates also inquired about the development of the capital city of Amaravati and for this the Prime Minister said that Amaravati will be developed as a green and blue city.
In a separate meeting with Bill Gates and ministers and officials, the Prime Minister said the visit of Gates Foundation chairman Bill Gates to Andhra Pradesh will pave the way for more digital revolutions. Recalling (CM)’s first meeting with Bill Gates as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in 1997 and convincing him (Bill Gates) to establish Microsoft in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister said that since then the IT sector has witnessed rapid growth in Hyderabad. He said Andhra Pradesh has abundant natural resources and the state government is now focusing on wealth creation. He said that Swarnandhra’s vision of 2047 will become reality with the cooperation of the Gates foundation.
Appreciating the vision of Chandrababu Naidu during interaction with ministers and officials, Bill Gates said that the Prime Minister is ahead in thinking among global leaders. He said that India is ahead in the digital revolution and both the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister are playing key roles in the digital revolution.
He said that the Gates Foundation prioritizes the health sector and undertakes most of the health projects. He emphasized that health services should be provided to everyone. He appreciated the Sanjeevani health project carried out in Kuppam in association with Gates Foundation. He said that artificial intelligence will be more useful in bringing reforms in the education sector. He appreciated the AP government’s efforts to bring technology to the agriculture sector for the benefit of farmers.
He stated that even in developed countries, technology is not used for the agricultural sector, while Andhra Pradesh is ahead in the use of technology in agriculture. He also praised Disaster management services that use technology to prevent loss of life and property during natural disasters.
Recalling his relationship with Chandrababu Naidu, Bill Gates described Chandrababu Naidu as his old good friend. He said that while he (Bill Gates) was trying to explain digital governance to the world, Chandrababu Naidu was implementing it.
Replying to a question from ministers, Bill Gates said that due to Chandrababu Naidu’s promotion of IT, majority of IT experts are from Hyderabad and Microsoft also has majority of experts from Telugu states.
