As Bangladesh prepares for the new government of Tarique Rahman following the overwhelming election victory of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, the interim administration under Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus is nearing its end.
In his final speech before leaving, Yunus touched on important issues such as a potential US trade deal, the ongoing Rohingya refugee crisis and his recent meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Yunus also emphasized Bangladesh’s strong ties with the Northeastern states, India’s ‘Seven Sisters’, but skipped a direct mention of India itself.
