Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma meets Bhupen Borah day after his resignation from Congress

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met former state Congress chief Bhupen Borah, who resigned from the opposition party, on Tuesday evening.

Sarma visited Borah’s house in Guwahati’s Ghoramara area and was welcomed with ‘aarti’ by his wife and son.

Borah had resigned from the Congress on Monday, but the party’s top leadership did not accept his resignation and tried to persuade him to take it back. Thereupon he sought time to reconsider his decision.
The CM had earlier said that the BJP’s doors are open to Borah and promised to help him win from a “safe seat” in the assembly polls.
