Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the people of Ramzan on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 and said that this auspicious month further strengthens the spirit of togetherness in society.
The Muslim holy month of Ramzan begins on Thursday, February 19, 2026.
“Ramzan Mubarak! May this auspicious month further strengthen the spirit of togetherness in our society. May there be peace and prosperity everywhere,” Mr. Modi said in a post on channel X.
Ramzan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar (Hijri). It begins with the sighting of the crescent moon and marks the beginning of a period of fasting, prayer and reflection observed by Muslims around the world.
A special prayer called ‘taravih’ is performed in mosques in the evenings throughout the month. The entire Quran is read during the prayer and continues until the Eid month is seen.
