Kevin James finds roach in motel blanket during comedy gig performance

Actor and comedian Kevin James recently opened up about the harsh realities of life on the road.
Appearing on Theo Von’s “Last Weekend” podcast, James recalled an early-career comedy outing that took an unexpected turn.
He said he traveled eight hours for a one-night stand-up gig that made very little money — especially after factoring in travel expenses.

Exhausted from the trip, James checked into what he described as “a crappy motel type thing.”
His plan was to take a nap before the show.

“I’m pulling back the bed because I’m tired. I only took eight hours,” he said.
And he continued: “There’s a cockroach in the blanket.”
James said he didn’t want a new room.

“I actually put the blanket back,” he said. “I went to the show. I sat in my car in the parking lot until everything was ready.”
After finishing the set, he made another decision.
“I did the show. I drove eight hours home,” he said. “Dude, I’m not going to stay next to a cockroach. I couldn’t do it.”

“There are some terrible places,” James said.
Pest experts who decided to immediately leave the room under the conditions he mentioned say that travelers who encounter cockroaches should take special precautions.

First, Orkin’s national technical director, Shannon Sked, told Fox News Digital: “Keep your belongings elevated and off soft surfaces to help reduce pest risk during check-in; the bathroom is a smart place to store luggage, especially in the tub — while you inspect the room for signs of pest activity.”
The pest control company is headquartered in Atlanta.
“Hotels can’t figure out what they don’t know.”
Common hotel pests like cockroaches and bedbugs are “excellent hitchhikers,” Sked added, and inspecting a room before checking in can help prevent them from spreading into the trunk.

He then said, “If you see any cockroaches or bedbugs, notify the front desk immediately.”
