Prince William’s warning that left everyone around him ‘dumbfounded’ | Royal | News

Over the last few years, Prince William has made it clear that his family is his top priority and that he will do anything to protect them. While this is something he feels very strongly about these days as a father of three, he is also believed to have felt strongly about protecting his loved ones from the early days of his relationship with his wife, Princess Catherine.
In the new tell-all biography, William and Catherine: The Intimate Inside Story, written by The Mirror’s royal editor Russell Myers, Myers describes how Prince William once issued a warning to photographers about their treatment of Catherine, who was just his girlfriend at the time.
It is believed that William wanted to make it clear that he did not want his wife to be followed by photographers, like her mother Princess Diana.
Weeks after the holiday, William and his father – now King Charles – held a press conference in Gloucestershire to talk about how the media would handle news of the affair.
However, in a very unroyal and unexpected turn of events, William decided to join photographers attending the press conference for a drink at the nearby Hare and Hounds Hotel.

Former Daily Mirror chief photographer Kent told Gavin Myers that William had referred to the fact that photographers were taking pictures of him and Catherine by saying: “This uphill business is totally out of place, don’t you think?”
Gavin went on to tell Myers: “We knew he wasn’t asking that question, it was more of a dressing down and that was pretty unusual.
“He then said that he made it very clear that it was absolutely impossible for us to go back to the old days. I remember him saying, ‘There is absolutely nothing I wouldn’t do to protect my family or loved ones from those times, so we won’t go back.’ “We were all pretty stunned, but we understood where he was coming from.”
After saying this, William finished his cider and said goodbye to the photographers. The mirror reports.
