Popular UK retailer plunging into administration – website closed down | UK | News

Online beauty retailer Beauty Bay is teetering on the edge of administration after sending a notice of intent to appoint administrators.
This indicates that a firm is preparing to go into administration and provides a brief legal protection that prevents creditors from taking legal action for ten days.
Sky News reported that the notification was made on Tuesday this week. Beauty Bay also shut down its website and posted the following statement on its homepage: “We’ll Be Back Soon. BEAUTY BAY is currently offline. We’ll be back soon.”
Beauty Bay was founded in 1999 by brothers Arron and David Gabbie and operates from Manchester. Alongside its own range, it stocks over 200 brands through its platform, including Ariana Grande, Clinique and MAC.
This follows earlier reports suggesting Beauty Bay was exploring possibilities of securing new investment, including potentially selling the business outright.

Consultancy firm Interpath was said to be working with Beauty Bay to review its business. 65 people work at Beauty Bay.
It comes after we reported that fashion retailer Quiz had collapsed into administration with the loss of 109 jobs. The job losses affect staff at its Glasgow head office and Lanarkshire warehouse.
The Quiz website has been closed and customers have been informed that any online orders that have not yet shipped will be cancelled.
Quiz does not process refunds directly; Instead, customers are directed to contact their bank or credit card provider to get their money back. For purchases made by credit card over £100, shoppers may be entitled to make a claim under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act.
Those paying any amount by debit card, or credit card for items worth £100 or less, can potentially use the Chargeback scheme, provided the purchase was made within the last 120 days.
Alternatively, Quiz allows customers to replace unwanted items in the store with items of equivalent value.
Exam branches remain open, with the retailer announcing discounted sales at all its locations. However, shoppers should note that gift cards are no longer accepted.
Quiz operates 40 stores across the UK, as well as concessions at New Look and Matalan outlets. In particular, Quiz franchises operating in UK New Look and Matalan stores are not affected by the administration process.
