Obstacle that could stop Andrew being stripped from line of succession | Royal | News

After almost 12 hours in police custody, Andrew was released to return to his temporary Wood Farm home at Sandringham Manor as part of the investigation. Andrew did not comment on his arrest; but he had previously denied all wrongdoing.

This has not yet happened and will reportedly require the legislation to be changed by the UK government. There will be no changes until the police investigation is concluded.

Sir Michael Ellis, former Attorney General of England and Wales, explained that although the legislation could be changed, it would be a major obstacle in the process.

I’m talking to Michael Portillo GB Status related newsMr Ellis said: “It’s not worth a candle to that. In fact it’s morally wrong. I think it’s also constitutionally wrong. And Michael, I think it will add to the Government’s pretty impressive tally of U-turns in due course.”

He also said there are obstacles that will prevent change from happening, including the length of the process.

He said: “It’s not just the UK Parliament that will have to legislate to intervene in the line of succession. There are all 15 Commonwealth territories, including a further 14 states besides us. “And not only that, I believe all seven states of Australia and 10 provinces of Canada should pass their own laws in their own legislatures.

“That would be an act of revenge. And let’s not forget, he wasn’t actually convicted of anything. He wasn’t even charged with anything. So an action would be committed against a person without reaching that person in any way.”

Andrew did not comment on the matter.
