Murder investigation underway after woman’s body found in Ipswich home
Police have ruled the death of a woman whose body was found at a house in Ipswich this month a homicide.
Police found the body of 42-year-old Springfield at the home on Beryl Court in Bellbird Park before noon on Feb. 19 after being called after a man was allegedly causing a disturbance in the street.
A police spokesman said the body “may have been in the house for some time”.
Neighbors said they had seen a man walking around the street for days and always wearing the same clothes.
Officers detained a 34-year-old man and he was taken to the hospital.
He had not yet received a medical evaluation and had not been interviewed by detectives.
After the autopsy, an investigation was launched into the murder.
Anyone with information about the incident was asked to contact the police.
Police are expected to make a statement to the media about the incident later on Tuesday.
