After a rape on the campus, on Saturday, IIM Kalcutta said that the institute had zero tolerance for such events and remained stable in supporting a safe and respectful campus environment. The Institute said that the issue has been treated with maximum seriousness and that the authorities have cooperated with law enforcement officers completely. Police claimed that a woman was raped by a student in a hostel on Friday.
IIM Kalcutta Responsible Director Saibal Chattopadhyay said that the institute is determined to monitor the necessary process while maintaining the dignity, security and privacy of all individuals. “We want to confirm that Kalcutta, the Institute of Indian Management, has zero tolerance for such events and is determined to maintain a safe and respectful campus environment. In addition, we take all the necessary steps to support the ongoing investigation process and to comply with the corporate protocols.” He said. “We urge everyone to prevent the speculation or dissemination of the unreliable information that can lead to more confusion and lead to investigation and allow the investigation authorities to do independently and fairly.
Chattopadhyay said that the administration was not informed of a serious complaint that contains one of the students when the management was not the complainant institute and the issue was taken with the greatest seriousness. “We are currently cooperating with the law enforcement officers who are currently conducting an investigation. The police are detained and the legal process continues.” He said.
Police said the defendants were arrested on the foundation of a FIR by a woman at the Haridevpur Police Station. A police officer said the alleged incident occurred on Friday in the IIM Calcutta hostel. “The woman said that she was called to the hostel for a consulting session in Fir.
