Independent voters loved Trump’s hockey team introduction, dials show

President Donald Trump’s introduction of the gold-medal-winning U.S. men’s Olympic hockey team in his State of the Union address Tuesday night was met with largely positive bipartisan reactions among voters.
Lee Carter of the polling group Maslansky & Partners said Independent voters especially loved the moment when the players entered the House of Representatives wearing their gold medals and USA T-shirts and were greeted with loud chants of “USA”.
“The U.S. hockey team and military recognition moments were widely noticed,” Carter said. “Visual, patriotic moments occurred more consistently than policy-heavy segments.”
According to the survey group, visual dials showed that Independent voter response showed the biggest increase at that moment. The dials also showed increased reaction from Republican voters who were already excited by the speech, while there was also a slight increase in reaction from Democratic voters who were generally the least excited during Trump’s speech.

The polling group noted that some of the positive reactions from voters polled included “What a great moment!” He said it was. and “I love it!” Even some critics agreed, “They deserve recognition” and “This is a beautiful moment.”
Trump had invited the team, which defeated Canada 2-1 in the Winter Olympics final, to his State of the Union address on Sunday night.

Trump introduced the team during the speech, receiving great applause from the participants.
“We have a group of winners here tonight who have made the entire nation proud. The men’s Olympic hockey team won the gold medal,” Trump said. “Come in!”

Trump added that he would honor the goalkeeper Connor Hellebuyck With the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

The polling group said 29 Democratic voters, 41 Republican voters and 30 Independent voters participated in the voter dials.
