Jameela Jamil has given a rare insight into her 11-year relationship with musician James Blake, declaring him a ‘real man’.
The presenter and actor, 40, and the singer-songwriter, 37, started dating in 2015 and generally keep their romance out of the spotlight.
But when Jameela appeared on the podcast, she talked about her longtime partner Man Made Join Pete Wicks for a discussion on masculinity.
Jameela shared that she felt like James was a “real man” because he had sensitivity and femininity and stigmatized men who described him as “macho” as “the most fragile thing I’ve ever seen.”
‘My boyfriend is a man with femininity in him, and when I say I mean tenderness, he is a sensitive man,’ she said.
‘He’s the manliest man I’ve ever met and people assume because I’m so strong, so outspoken, I’m with a weak cuck simple type, when in fact it’s like no, a weak man can’t handle me.
Jameela Jamil gave rare insight into her 11-year relationship with James Blake, revealing he’s a ‘real man’ (seen together in 2024)
‘Only a very secure man who knows I can’t shake his shit can put up with me for 11 years.
‘I couldn’t get anything out of him even if I tried, his masculinity is so solid that nothing can threaten him, not his femininity, not me. This is a real man.’
Jameela went on to share her thoughts on men who describe themselves as ‘macho’, saying: ‘Macho is the most fragile thing I’ve ever seen. It’s very fragile and a mask.
‘This is a cartoon. It seems to me that this is a caricature. These men are always the ones most afraid of gay men, trans women, and cis women. They think they hate, but they don’t hate because they are afraid. They’re afraid of it.’
In 2024, Jameela talked about her life with James in a hilarious “everyday life” movie. Sunday Times Magazine.
She detailed her daily routine, which includes lots of cake, coffee and gossip.
Jameela lives in Los Angeles with her partner James, two roommates, and their two dogs, Barold and Winnie.
Describing how she started the day, Jameela wrote: ‘I wake up at 8am, James makes the coffee and we sit in bed gossiping. My day should start with laughter, coffee and cake.’
‘As someone who has suffered from anorexia for 20 years, my first thought was: ‘Don’t eat cake today.’ It’s liberating to look forward to it now. Our two male roommates, whom I met when I was 19, can also join us. Just to make this clear, this is not bullshit.’
Jameela explained that since she is in a “luxury position” to not have children, she can work whenever she wants and usually works from home.
However, Jameela did mention her long-term partner when she appeared on the podcast Man Made with Pete Wicks to discuss masculinity.
After work, the couple usually goes for a long walk of an hour before James cooks them an Italian meal.
He continued: ‘We watch TV after dinner. I always fall asleep, then wake up, deny it, and gaslight James for half an hour. I’d rather confess to the murder. ‘While I lie awake wondering if I can extend my dogs’ life forever, he instantly falls asleep in bed.’
Born in London, Jameela moved to America in 2016 and has lived here ever since.
She first sparked dating rumors after she shared a candid photo with James at his birthday celebration in February 2015.
A few months after sharing their first Instagram photo together, the couple took their love public by attending the Wimbledon Tennis Championships.
In 2019, a few years after going public with their romance, the couple appeared in an interview with InStyle and Warner Bros. He made his red carpet debut by attending the party held after the Golden Globe awards.
