Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday (February 26, 2026) expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will win the upcoming Assembly elections in West Bengal and “kick out every single infiltrator” from the State after coming to power.
Mr. Shah made this statement while referring to a function of Sashastra Seema Bal in Bihar’s Araria district in Seemanchal district bordering West Bengal.

“Elections are approaching in West Bengal. I am confident that the BJP will win. With the formation of the new government, we will throw out every single person who infiltrated,” he said.
“The process of clearing the leaks will begin in Bihar, especially in the Seemanchal region. We had won the Assembly elections here last year on this issue. And although the opposition criticized our agenda, we got the mandate,” the Home Minister said.
Mr Shah said infiltration was a threat to national security and infiltrators also threatened the demographic balance of a region, being rationed and enjoying other benefits meant for common people.

“Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Assam are most vulnerable to such demographic disturbances. The Narendra Modi government is committed to maintaining demographic balance,” Mr. Shah said.
He started his speech by paying tribute to legendary freedom fighter and Hindutva icon Vinayak Damodar Savarkar on his death anniversary. Mr. Shah added: “The Rebellion of 1857 came to be seen as India’s First War of Independence only after Savarkar wrote a book claiming the same.”
