With the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections fast approaching and political parties racing to push their own narratives, actor-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has instructed its functionaries not to speak to the media without prior approval from the party headquarters.
State level, district level and other functionaries of TVK should not participate in media discussions without prior approval from the party headquarters, party general secretary N. Anand said on Thursday (February 26, 2026). He said it was mandatory to obtain permission from the center to participate in discussions, interviews, television and YouTube programs.
The TVK leadership’s order restricting media interaction is understood to be aimed at preventing inexperienced members or those not designated to speak to the media from “making blunders” in the face of the upcoming Assembly elections.
