Five Fake Eye ‘Surgeons’ Nailed in 1 Month

Hyderabad:The Telangana State Medical Council intensified its crackdown on quackery and within a month, a case was registered against five self-styled “ophthalmologists” who were allegedly on the loose in Nalgonda district.
Following complaints, the council launched a special campaign against quacks under the Mission Miryalaguda initiative.
The teams led by Dr V. Naresh Kumar along with Dr K. Ravi Kumar, Dr Jukuri Sreekanth and Vigilance Officer Rakesh carried out inspections of several eye clinics suspected to be run by unskilled persons. The team presented the evidence they collected to the police.
Following this, cases were registered at Miryalaguda I and II Town police stations in Nalgonda district in January 2026.
Following further investigation and technical verification, five people were arrested for allegedly working without proper qualifications and registration.
The arrested persons were Ale Koteshwar Rao, who runs a First Aid Center next to Komala Medical Store in Shanti Nagar; Doctors Colony, Dr. Gaddam Nagaraju of Shalini Eye Clinic near Razia Sulthana Complex; Shiva Koteshwar Rao of Yasasvi Eye Clinic, Sagar Road, next to Abhiruchi Hotel; P Vikas Kumar of Sri Mahalakshmi Eye Hospital, Doctors Colony; and Valki Srinu from Rapha Eye Hospital near Srinivasa Theatre.
Another clinic called Annapurna Netralayam in Doctors Colony was also inspected as part of the tour.
Council members noted that most claimed to have an Ophthalmic Assistant (DOA) degree, but allegedly practiced independently as eye specialists, which “is illegal without proper medical registration.”
