Radiohead publicly demand ICE to take down video using the band’s song
British rock band Radiohead has publicly requested the removal of a promotional video produced by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) featuring the controversial song “Let Down”.
The agency, whose immigration enforcement methods have been widely condemned by human rights advocates amid a crackdown by President Donald Trump, uploaded the video last week.
In a harsh statement to media outlets, Radiohead said: “We demand that amateurs controlling the ICE social media account remove it. It’s not funny, this song means a lot to us and other people and you can’t claim it without a fight.”
ICE did not immediately respond to requests for comment after business hours.
His version of the song appeared as the soundtrack to a video showing a montage of victims of violence attributed by ICE to immigrants who are in the United States illegally.
Radiohead said the song was used without the band’s permission.
The Trump administration has used ICE in an immigration raid and deportation effort that has been condemned by civil rights advocates, particularly after two U.S. citizens were fatally shot by federal agents in Minnesota in January. Many celebrities have condemned ICE before.
Rights groups say the crackdown has created a fearful environment for both citizens and immigrants, especially minority groups.
Nationwide, at least eight people have died in ICE detention centers since the beginning of 2026, following at least 31 deaths last year.
Rights advocates also raised free speech and due process concerns over ICE’s detention and attempts to deport pro-Palestinian foreign protesters opposing U.S. ally Israel’s assault on Gaza.
Trump has touted the crackdown as aimed at curbing illegal immigration and improving homeland security.
