Heidi Montag opens up about the vocal injury she suffered after being eliminated from “The Masked Singer.”
In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, the 39-year-old former reality star shared how competing on the Fox competition series affected the vocal injury she suffered before appearing on the show, explaining that the condition worsened during filming and even if she hadn’t been voted out, she wouldn’t have been able to continue.
“I just had a vocal injury. I had bleeding on my vocal cords and I couldn’t speak for weeks, the week before and the week after,” he explained. “My voices needed to heal. I went to a few ENTs. So even if I got votes, I couldn’t continue competing. The injury was quite significant.”
When he first began feeling symptoms of the injury, Montag stated that he initially “thought I was sick or something” and that he “couldn’t even talk” because he had lost his voice, adding, “It was pretty severe.”

Regarding her performance on “The Masked Singer,” the reality star said she took “a week or so of vocal rest” and then had to “do sign language practice and not talk” in order to be able to sing the songs.
“I couldn’t even rehearse these songs. So I had to go out there and do my best and do my best, and then I couldn’t talk,” Montag said. “And then it was painful. Still, it hurts now when I talk.”

He continued: “It’s almost like a sore throat, but the bleeding has resolved and now it’s like the helmet is so heavy that I pulled these muscles, it was like I was lifting it up and singing, so I just pushed it. I learned that there’s a point in trying so hard. I should have lowered it a little lower. It’s my fault.”

“The Hills” star told Fox News Digital that she would “definitely do it again” if given the chance, that she’s been “waiting to do the show” and has been “in talks since season one.”
“It was such a positive experience, from production to performance. It was an incredible, exhilarating, fun experience,” he said. “The biggest challenge is the costume. It’s so heavy and big you can’t see. I mean, thank God for the backup dancers, they’re like body guards that really move you around because you can’t really move from one place to another.”
“I couldn’t even rehearse these songs. So I had to go out there and give it my all and do my best, and then I couldn’t talk.”
On the night of her elimination, Montag was joined on stage by her husband Spencer Pratt, who was dressed as Mr. Snow Cone; Montag stated that this “could be challenging”, saying that it meant he didn’t have to keep it a secret from her.

“They love Snow Cone,” he said of his children. “This is the best thing I’ve ever done. They’re cheering [it] They were very upset when I was rejected. My oldest son, who is eight years old, said, ‘I can’t watch.’ ‘No problem,’ I said. Then I asked him, ‘Would you like me to continue?’ I said. and he said: ‘No, because then you wouldn’t be with us so much.'”
