Son of rapper Lil Jon drowned after ingesting hallucinogenic mushrooms | US news

Authorities in the US state of Georgia said rapper Lil Jon’s son drowned after eating hallucinogenic mushrooms.
The body of Nathan Smith, known professionally as DJ Young Slade, was found in a pond north of Atlanta in early February.
An autopsy report prepared by the Fulton County medical examiner’s office said Smith, 27, died of “asphyxiation in the environment of psilocybin use.” The report obtained by the news outlet stated that Smith’s blood tested positive for “the pharmacologically active hallucinogenic compound of psilocybin – hallucinogenic mushrooms.” People.
His death was deemed accidental.
Smith was found dead on Feb. 3 after leaving his home in Milton, about 30 miles north of Atlanta, “under unusual circumstances.” A missing person poster distributed by police on social media stated that Smith “ran away from his home and has been missing ever since.” Police said Smith “may have been distracted and needed help.”
“His family and friends fear for his safety.”
Lil Jon announced his son’s death three days later.
“Nathan was the kindest person you could ever meet,” she said in a statement. “He was extremely caring, thoughtful, kind, passionate and warm-hearted, and loved his family and friends in his life to the fullest.
“He was an incredibly talented young man, a music producer, artist and engineer, and a graduate of New York University.”
Lil Jon added: “We loved Nathan with all our hearts and are incredibly proud of him. He was loved and appreciated, and during our recent times together, we were relieved to know that we expressed that feeling to him as well.”
Lil Jon, born Jonathan Smith, is a rapper and producer from Atlanta who is the central figure of hip-hop’s rave subgenre. He is known for his songs such as Get Low, which he released with his band East Side Boyz in 2002, and Turn Down for What, which he released with DJ Snake in 2013.
Lil Jon also has a daughter named Nahara, born in 2024.
