USA hockey stars mock Donald Trump over Winter Olympics outrage in SNL monologue with Connor Storrie

The U.S. women’s hockey team was given the opportunity to shine on Saturday Night Live after a week of outrage over Donald Trump’s comments about the success of the Winter Olympics.
Guest host, Hot Rivalry star Connor Storrie, welcomed first-time US male heroes Jack and Quinn Hughes to the show during his opening monologue, before women’s gold medalists Hilary Knight and Megan Keller joined moments later to thunderous applause from the audience.
After the U.S. men defeated Canada in overtime in last Sunday’s final, Trump called them into the locker room and invited them to the State of the Union. He then joked that he should have invited the gold medal-winning women’s team too or he would have been blamed.
The president’s joke was met with laughter from the men’s team; This has drawn widespread criticism this week since their return to the United States. But women had the last laugh on Saturday Night Live.
When Knight and Keller took the stage, the Hughes brothers stepped aside and allowed Storrie to stand in the middle after Storrie joked that no famous hockey players had ever seen the Hot Rivalry showcase.
Keller said, “Don’t worry, we watched your show,” which increased the applause. When Storrie thanked them for attending, Knight joked: ‘It was going to be just us but we thought we should invite the kids too.’

Keller then nudged Quinn Hughes and added: ‘Yeah, we thought about giving them some time to shine.’
Storrie explained that his show ‘talks to people who aren’t always represented in hockey’ and made another joke about how much more attention the US men have received this week for their success.
‘The last time the men did it (won gold) was 46 years ago,’ said Quinn, and Knight added: ‘And the last time we did it was exactly two Olympics’ ago.’
Jack Hughes then concluded the segment by saying: ‘It’s a nice burn but these gold medals aren’t just for us. “These are for all hockey fans,” he turned to Storrie and said: “Yours too.”
The women’s team did not attend Tuesday night’s State of the Union event, but the men did and were praised by Trump, who brought them out to celebrate their win.
Later in the show, the women’s insult to Trump’s State of the Union was referenced again and received loud applause from the audience.
In his speech, Trump said that he would give the Presidential Medal of Freedom to US goalkeeper Connor Hellebuyck, who was the star player of the team in the win against Canada in Italy last week.
He also underlined his hope of hosting the women’s team at the White House.

Trump has previously lashed out at SNL, where the show’s comedians have long been a target.
And this weekend, he was once again the object of ridicule for leading an attack on Iran alongside the Israelis who killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei at his compound in Tehran.
The show opened with Trump, played by James Austin Johnson, giving a press conference announcing military action.
‘Good evening to all those celebrating and happy World War Three. “It’s me, Donald Trump, a FIFA Peace Prize winner and a Nobel Peace Prize winner,” he said. ‘We all know that Iran has been two weeks away from developing nuclear weapons for the last 15 years.
‘That’s why we had to act now, and we’re fighting. I know that on the campaign trail I promised plural wars, not new foreign wars. ‘I’m allowed to make one.’
Storrie, meanwhile, had a meteoric rise to stardom as one of the main characters in the gay hockey romantic drama in which he starred.
