‘Immoral, unlawful act’: Opposition condemns killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei

Congress leaders and other parties also criticized the Centre’s foreign policy, saying the government’s response to the war against long-time “friend” Iran was a “betrayal” of India’s values, principles and interests.
AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi called the murder an “immoral and unlawful act” and expressed hope that the central government would play a role in stopping the war.

Prime Minister Omar Abdullah expressed deep concern about the developments in Iran and called for calm in the face of widespread protests.

He called on all communities to remain calm, promote peace, and avoid any actions that could lead to tension or unrest,” his office said in a post on X.

PDP chairperson Mehbooba Mufti said Khamenei’s killing marked an “extremely tragic and shameful” point in history.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi also took a sharp swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that the PM “kneeled” before Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump, hoping that they made every effort to bring back all Indian citizens in the affected countries to safety.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut harshly criticized the BJP-led Center and raised questions about its foreign policy following the US-Israeli attack on India’s “friend” Iran, which cost Khamenei’s life.
