Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaks with Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, condemns attacks on UAE

In his post on social media, Modi called the UAE leader “my brother” and said that India stands in solidarity with the Gulf country in these difficult times.
The Prime Minister said, “I spoke to my brother Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. I strongly condemned the attacks on the UAE and condoled the loss of life in these attacks. India stands in solidarity with the UAE in these difficult times.” he said.
Modi also thanked the UAE leadership for ensuring the security and welfare of the large Indian community living in the country. Approximately 3.5 million Indians live and work in the UAE, making it one of the largest expatriate populations in the Gulf region.
He added that India supports efforts towards de-escalation and reiterated the need for regional peace, security and stability amid rising tensions in West Asia.
Regional tensions are rising
The Prime Minister’s remarks reflect the background of increasing hostilities in the region following the US and Israeli military action against Iran. US President Donald Trump said that the purpose of the operation was “to ensure that Iran does not obtain nuclear weapons.” “We will destroy their missiles and destroy their missile industry. It will be completely destroyed again,” Trump said in an eight-minute video message posted on Truth Social.
He warned Iran’s armed forces to lay down their weapons in exchange for “total immunity” or “face certain death” and called on the Iranian people to “take over your government” when the operation ends.
The large-scale military operation, called Operation Epic Rage by the United States, came after weeks of warnings by Washington that military action would be taken if Tehran did not accept a new deal on its nuclear program.
U.S. Central Command said the goal was to “dismantle the Iranian regime’s security apparatus by prioritizing locations that pose an imminent threat.”
Iran has consistently maintained that its nuclear program is entirely peaceful and for civilian energy purposes.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel and the United States launched a joint operation to eliminate, in his words, “the existential threat posed by the terrorist regime in Iran.”
