Paltrow’s full-skirted black lace dress for Sunday’s event was designed by Givenchy’s Sarah Burton, who was a favorite of the Princess of Wales during her tenure at Alexander McQueen.
Even though it’s the most daring low-cut dress she’s worn in years, Paltrow is no stranger to this style.
In fact, the actress and wellness mogul has ventured into the act several times; so often that it has become a signature of sorts.
She wore a V-cut Stella McCartney jumpsuit at the Hollywood premiere of Iron Man in 2008, and a V-cut navy blue satin Chanel dress at the Cannes Film Festival the following year.
Paltrow has revisited the style six times since then, but none of the dresses were as revealing as her look on Sunday.
Another actress giving her best V sign was Wednesday star Jenna Ortega, 23, who wore a cream silk Christian Cowan dress and low-cut robe.

Substance star Demi Moore, 63, paired her new short hairstyle with a black strapless dress with a modest convex neckline by Schiaparelli.
Oscar nominee Jessie Buckley wore a black strapless Balenciaga dress with a similar convex style on the bodice, while Emma Stone appeared in a sparkling mauve Louis Vuitton slip dress.
With such a divide, the wedding dresses on the show certainly gave new meaning to the phrase ‘when they go down, we go up’.
