LIZ PEEK: War critics on wrong side of history as Iran celebrates Trump’s strike shocks US left

Leftists in the US are seriously confused. While Iranians around the world celebrate the death of the thug Ayatollah Khamenei, who ruled their country with an iron fist, liberals in the United States are condemning President Donald Trump’s war to liberate the Iranian nation.
Opposition to the joint US-Israeli attack on Iran was broad and swift; It was fueled in part by Trump’s Imbalance Syndrome – if he’s behind it, they’re definitely against it – and it was also colored by anti-Semitism.
The smoke from the bombings in Iran had barely cleared before Democrats started screaming, such as when Connecticut Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy called it “dangerously illegal and a mistake of staggering magnitude” and denounced the president as a “dictator-to-be.” Murphy also called Israel’s policy in Gaza and the West Bank “immoral” and recently announced that he would not support additional military aid to Israel.
Anti-Israel Democrats in the House have taken a particularly harsh tone; “It is clear that Israel’s genocidal government does not care about human life, including its children and our loved ones in the military,” said Rashida Tlaib, a “Squad” member from Michigan. Additionally, “The Israeli government is addicted to bombing hospitals, schools, refugee camps, and these are all war crimes.”
Democrats have been moving away from their traditional support for Israel for some time, especially since the far left took over their party. Axios reported in December that the DNC’s still-secret “autopsy” of why Vice President Kamala Harris was defeated by Trump in 2024 concluded that the former Vice President “lost significant support due to the Biden administration’s approach to the war in Gaza…”
For decades, Iran has brought nothing but bloodshed and destruction to Israel, the United States, and the Middle East.
So, as Democratic officials sifted through the ashes of the 2024 election for clues as to why an inarticulate candidate who admitted he couldn’t think of anything he could have done differently than the wildly unpopular Joe Biden went up in flames, they determined it was Israel’s fault! Democrats are quick learners; Their support for the Jewish state is rapidly declining.
It’s not just Democrats piling on. Criticism also came from far-right conspiracy theorists.
FROM MISSILES TO MINERALS: THE STRATEGIC MEANING BEHIND THE IRAN ATTACK
We also heard criticism from the deeply trashy and anti-Israeli UN, where Secretary-General António Guterres condemned US-Israeli airstrikes on Iran and demanded immediate negotiations “to pull the region and our world back from the brink.”

Guterres ran a U.N. “with a conspicuous anti-Israel bias, advancing biased and unilateral efforts to isolate and delegitimize the Jewish state,” pro-Jewish group AIPAC reported. One bias that AIPAC was able to document is that, surprisingly, “it has increased dramatically since the October 7 attack by Hamas.”
Spineless European leaders stood on the sidelines and initially distanced themselves from the US-Israeli initiative. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at first refused to give the US permission to use its air bases, thus forcing American jets to fly more than 20 hours to carry out their missions. He later relented and became the subject of ridicule from all sides.

Of course, unhinged students were also involved, along with Columbia University’s most notorious anti-Israel group, which was responsible for the “camp” built last year to protest the Gaza conflict and subsequently wrote “Death to America” in Farsi. the USA and Israel were killed religious leader of Iran Ali Khamenei. This prompted Sen. Tex Cruz, R-Texas, to demand the “immediate deportation” of foreign students who post such anti-American messages. He’s right.
One student protester told an interviewer that the United States “should side with the Iranian regime instead of Israel because Iran is not fascist.”
New York’s newly installed Muslim mayor, Zohran Mamdani, harshly condemned President Trump’s war with Iran, saying: “Today’s military strikes against Iran by the United States and Israel mark a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression.” He also added, “Additionally, I want to speak directly to Iranian New Yorkers: you are part of the fabric of this city; you are our neighbors, small business owners, students, artists, workers, and community leaders.” “You’ll be safe here,” the mayor assured them.
Mamdani misread the room by assuming that Iranians living in the United States would react the way they did to the attack on the mullahs. Instead, joyful Iranians gathered in Times Square to celebrate the end of one of the most hated and brutal regimes in history.
IRAN-AMERICAN DEMOCRATIC ‘INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED’ BY PARTY’S REACTION TO US-ISRAEL STRIKE
Apparently they felt completely safe, in fact they were.
There are certainly valid reasons to fear a military conflict with Iran. The country is home to a large ballistic missile arsenal, has a well-trained and now vengeful army, and could disrupt the world’s oil supply by mining the Strait of Hormuz. It is also a large country of 90 million people; Iranian citizens may hate the mullahs, but they do not have the weapons to overthrow the theocracy.

But for decades, Iran has brought nothing but bloodshed and destruction to Israel, the United States, and the Middle East. There can be neither peace nor progress in the region as Iran continues to finance its terrorist proxies and doggedly pursues long-range missiles and nuclear bombs.
Democrats who mourn the cancellation of President Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran and protest that the JCPOA prevents the regime from obtaining nuclear weapons certainly know this better. The agreement was seriously flawed, unverifiable, and from day one the mullahs prevented UN inspectors from agreeing to ratify the agreement.

President Trump ended the mullahs’ reign of terror and united the region in ways no one could have imagined.
This is a justified effort. On the other hand, let’s hope that a free Iran will be a reliable ally.
