Trump Iran military strikes get mixed approval from Americans in new polls

The findings of two new national polls released just hours after President Donald Trump launched an attack on Iran are clear: Only a minority of Americans approve of the operation, and Democrats and Republicans disagree on the strikes.
Following the “Operation Epic Rage” launched by American and Israeli forces against Iran and resulting in the killing of Iran’s religious leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, 27 percent of those questioned in the Reuters/Ipsos national poll conducted on Saturday and Sunday said they approved of the attacks.
A majority, 43%, said they disapproved, while almost three in 10 were unsure.
A CNN poll conducted by SSRS, which was in the field last weekend, had similar findings.

59 percent of Americans surveyed said they disapproved of the initial decision to attack Iran, while 41 percent responded positively.
As expected, there is a wide gap between Democrats and Republicans.
Republicans questioned Reuters/Ipsos poll, They supported military action by a margin of 55-32 percent. A majority of Democrats (73 percent) disapproved of the strikes, with only 7 percent saying they approved. A majority of independents (44 percent) disapproved of the military strike, while 19 percent supported it and nearly four in 10 were undecided.

Partisan gap widens further CNN poll.
More than three-quarters of Republicans (77 percent) approved, compared with 32 percent of independents and 18 percent of Democrats.

According to the CNN poll, 83 percent of Republicans said Trump has a clear plan to counter attacks on Iran, while 70 percent of independents and 88 percent of Democrats disagreed.
Overall, six in ten said they did not think the president had a clear plan to deal with the situation, while 62 percent said Trump should seek congressional approval before taking another military action.

Both surveys were conducted before the US military announced the first US casualties of the operation – six soldiers killed – on Sunday.
The joint US-Israeli offensive against Iran is in its fourth day as of Tuesday, and Trump has said the plan is ahead of schedule thanks to the early elimination of Iran. Prominent leaders of Iran.
Trump said Iran was seeking talks with the United States while military operations continued, but he believed the opportunity for negotiation had passed.

The United States has called on Americans to leave 14 countries in the Middle East as Iran’s counter-attacks intensify. The US State Department also closed its embassies in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, the Gulf Cooperation Council has warned Iran that it will take “all necessary measures”, including possible military action, in response to Tehran’s missile and drone attacks.
