62-Year-Old Teacher Proves Age No Barrier to Blood Donation

Anantapur: 62-year-old teacher N. Rajashekar Reddy proved that age is no barrier by donating blood to help children suffering from thalassemia.

Inspired by the Manavata Blood Donors Association, he has been donating blood regularly since 2004.

Rajashekar Reddy’s unwavering commitment to blood donation was appreciated at the Women Empowerment Program organized by Sri Sathya Sai district police in Hindupur ahead of International Women’s Day on March 8.

District SP S. Satish Kumar congratulated Rajasekhar Reddy and other blood donors. Meanwhile, the teacher made a will in 2010, promising that his body would be donated to a medical school for research.

Rajashekar Reddy especially appealed to government employees, teachers and police personnel to donate blood regularly and help the needy.

On this occasion, All India Tippu Blood Donation Association founder Umar Farooq Khan said that their organization has so far provided blood to more than 23,000 thalassemia children, pregnant women undergoing surgery, accident victims and anemia patients in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka.
