Timeline charts diplomat’s demise from college dean’s list to deadly highway rampage

The diplomat accused of fatally stabbing one man and wounding three others in a “road rage incident” on a highway on Sunday once graduated with academic honors and built a career that would take him to the U.S. State Department.

Jared Llamado, 32, fatally stabbed 39-year-old Michele Adams and injured 36-year-old Dana Bonnell, 37-year-old Mary C. Flood and 40-year-old Heather Miller, according to Virginia State Police. Authorities said Llamado also stabbed his own dog to death. The incident occurred on I-495 southbound at 1:17 p.m. Fairfax CountyApproximately 30 minutes from Washington DC

The stabbings were not targeted and none of the victims, other than the dog, were in Llamado’s car at the time, authorities said. Authorities said the knife-wielding Llamado was shot by a state trooper in self-defense and died at a local hospital. The soldier was not injured.

“A Virginia State Police trooper was called to the scene of a reported road rage incident at approximately 1:17 p.m. When police arrived on scene, they were confronted by a male suspect who was carrying a knife,” Virginia State Police wrote in a news release. “The trooper then shot the suspect in self-defense. The suspect, Jared Llamado, 32, of McLean, Virginia, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Llamado later succumbed to these injuries. The trooper was not injured.”

The U.S. State Department confirmed that Llamado was a foreign service officer with the agency.

“We are aware of the tragic incident involving a State Service Officer that occurred in Fairfax County, Virginia, on Sunday, March 1,” a State Department spokesperson said in a statement. “We offer our deepest condolences to everyone affected by this tragedy.”

On February 22, Llamado posted a photo on social media with several of her friends, looking happy and cheerful.

Llamado began pursuing a degree in applied information technology at George Mason University in 2011.

2015 – Graduated from George Mason University:

Llamado graduated from George Mason University in 2015 with a degree in applied information technology. Llamado said on LinkedIn that he graduated with a 3.76 GPA, making him on the dean’s list for seven of his eight semesters. He also said he graduated magna cum laude.

July 2015 – June 2018 – Worked as a network engineer at OSIbeyond

Llamado said he lived in Copenhagen, Denmark, while working at the State Department, but recently returned to the United States.

According to dispatch audio obtained by Fox News Digital, the stabbing “started out as a property damage accident,” then the suspect began “stabbing people.”

The dispatch operator said there were “many victims on the highway.”
