The DMK government led by Chief Minister MK Stalin has fulfilled or implemented close to 75% of the election promises made by the party ahead of the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu said on Friday.
Speaking at an event titled ‘Tamil Nadu 2030-Kanavugal Meipadum’ (Dreams will come true) in Chennai, Mr. Thennarasu said that of the 505 promises made in the survey, 206 have been fulfilled and 170 have been fulfilled.
Mr. Thennarasu also said that 32 of the remarks were under consideration by the State government, while 33 were pending by the Union government. He also said that 44 promises have not been fulfilled by the state government so far, while 20 promises have been withdrawn “on the grounds that they are not feasible”.
The Finance Minister’s statement comes at a time when some DMK leaders are claiming that the party has fulfilled more than 90% of the poll promises, while the Opposition is claiming that only close to 30% of the promises have been kept.
