U.S. waiver to procure Russian oil: Kerala flays Centre

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday criticized the Union government for granting a 30-day exemption from the US to allow India to purchase Russian oil amid the West Asian conflict.
In a post on ‘X’, he said: “India’s sovereignty is not subject to foreign ‘permission’. It is outrageous that a country like India needs US approval for decisions like oil imports. By allowing such a perception to take hold, the Union government is humiliating our country before the world. Decisions on who India will trade with should be made by India alone, in our national interest. Our national dignity and energy security cannot be subject to the approval of any superpower.”
