In a Bengal college, an Iftar party to be held by women for women

The iftar party is generally considered an all-male event, where the host and guests are all men. In a first-of-its-kind initiative in Bengal, women will organize an iftar party for women on Saturday evening, March 7, 2026. The guests will be mostly non-Muslims and will learn more about the month of Ramzan and its related traditions.
The event, called ‘2026 Dosti ki Iftar’ and organized by Deeniyat Muallima College in Santragachi, across the river from Kolkata, and the city-based Know Your Neighbor initiative, aims to “provide a space for women to share their views and break myths and stereotypes”. The guests include students and faculty from various Kolkata colleges.
