President Donald Trump on Friday said the United States is “doing very well” in Iran, nearly a week after the military coordinated airstrikes with Israel that killed religious leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Tehran.

“Someone asked, ‘How do you rate zero to 10?’ he said. I said, ‘I would give 15 to 12.’ Their armies are gone. Their fleet is gone. Their communications are gone. Their leaders are gone,” Trump said. “Two group leaders.”

The president made the statement after Fox News senior White House correspondent Peter Doocy asked at the end of a college sports roundtable at the White House what motivated Trump to hold the roundtable. at that moment, “Because there are so many other things going on in the world.”

“That’s true,” Trump agreed, adding that Iran’s air force was “completely destroyed.” “Think about it. They have 32 ships. All 32 ships are at the bottom of the ocean. Other than that, they’re in very good shape.” he joked.

“Our army is performing outstandingly,” he said. “It’s a situation of a very bad, very sick group of leaders who were killing a lot of people, where a lot of our people were killed or maimed… And we had a choice. We could accept it and continue like that for years, or we could do something about it. And we did something about it.”

“People are very impressed with our military and they admire our military, what’s going on in Venezuela, what’s going on right now, what happened before that with the B-2 bombers that took out Iran’s nuclear capability or potential,” Trump said.

He added, “I think we’re a more respected country now than we’ve ever been before.”
