District Volleyball Bodies Seek SAAP’s Intervention in APVA Dispute

vijayawada:On Saturday, representatives of various district volleyball federations appealed to the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) to intervene in the ongoing disputes within the Andhra Pradesh Volleyball Association (APVA). They pointed out that the absence of an officially recognized state-level body since December 2022 negatively affects the future of talented volleyball players.

Addressing a press conference in Vijayawada, Krishna District Volleyball Association president Nadella Brahmaji Rao, secretary D. Dayakara Rao, Guntur district secretary Niranjan and Prakasam district secretary Anjaneyulu expressed concern that instability within the state association has deprived many national and international level players of opportunities to participate in tournaments.

Many players and their parents attended the press conference and expressed their concerns about the situation.

They accused the Volleyball Federation of India (VFI) of not taking adequate steps to recognize a legitimate governing body in Andhra Pradesh. Instead, they claimed that he supported certain groups.

Volleyball representatives of the districts claimed that player selection was made in only three or four out of a total of 13 districts. Forged documents are prepared to send these names to the VFI, resulting in deserving players being removed from other regions. Representatives demanded transparent elections and fair election processes in all 13 districts to create a recognized MEP union. They urged sports minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy and SAAP officials to hold a meeting with all stakeholders to secure the future of promising players.
