The 54-year-old actress, who was still married to Dane at the time of his death after a seven-year separation, moved some items out of his home on Wednesday earlier this week.
The Grey’s Anatomy alum’s death at the age of 53 was confirmed by his loved ones in a statement on February 19, less than a year after he announced his amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) diagnosis.

He then pulled out a black guitar case while carrying his phone in his right hand.
It was recently revealed that Depp, who met the late actor years ago, allowed Dane to live ‘rent-free’ in one of his homes to ease his financial worries amid his health battle.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star owns two neighboring residences just above the Sunset Strip, and Dane remained at the smaller property until his death.
A source told Page Six‘Eric’ [had] One less thing to worry about.
‘He was living virtually rent-free in one of Johnny’s houses above the Sunset Strip. He told Eric to pay whatever he could or couldn’t pay for the rent.’
The insider continued: ‘Johnny wanted to do whatever he could to ease the financial burden.’
Gayheart married Dane in 2004 and gave birth to the couple’s daughters Billie, 16, and Georgia, 14.
The actress filed for divorce in 2018 but reportedly rejected the petition in 2025 due to her health struggle.
The couple remained legally married until his death, and the stars were in separate relationships.
Dane had been dating photographer Janell Shirtcliff since 2022; Gayheart, on the other hand, was seen kissing 78-year-old Peter Morton, co-founder of Hard Rock Cafe, in Beverly Hills on December 3 last year.

Earlier this month, Dane’s cause of death was revealed on the death certificate he received. People.
While the actor died of respiratory failure, it was stated that the underlying cause of death was amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Respiratory failure is known as a complication of ALS, affecting the nervous system, including the spinal cord and brain. Muscles can become paralyzed and there is currently no cure for the disease.

He then shared four lessons he learned during his ALS battle; among these was ‘living in the moment, in the moment’.
‘Second, fall in love. It doesn’t have to be with one person, but I recommend it too. But fall in love with something.’
Another lesson was ‘choose your friends wisely’ and the fourth was ‘fight with every fiber of your being and dignity’. Fight back when you face challenges, health or otherwise.
‘Never give up. Fight until your last breath. This disease is slowly taking my body, but it will never take my soul…’
He concluded with these words: ‘Billie and Georgia, you are my heart. You are my everything. Goodnight. I love you. ‘These are my last words.’
Dane also spoke highly of Gayheart, saying: ‘When anyone sees this I will never be as in love with another woman as I am with Rebecca.’
He also shared: ‘I think Rebecca was more willing to come forward and do her part than I was. I don’t have the gene that makes me want to keep going no matter what.
‘I think: ‘If there’s a hole in the boat, don’t try to plug the hole.’ Throw the damn thing away and find a new one.’

In one of the photos, Billie was seen as a little boy looking at the camera with a cheerful smile while enjoying ice cream.

Earlier this week, on March 3, Gayheart celebrated their daughter Billie’s ‘sweet 16’ and shared photos of the teenager on her Instagram stories.

‘He spent his final days surrounded by his dear friends, his devoted wife and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world.’
They added: ‘Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research and was determined to make a difference to others facing the same struggle.
‘He will be greatly missed and will always be remembered fondly. Eric adored his fans and will forever be grateful for the love and support shown him. The family has asked for privacy as they navigate this impossible time.’
Dane announced his diagnosis of the disease in April last year.
