Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been warned by a PR expert that their misalignment could confuse fans following their latest move. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spent two days in Jordan, raising awareness of the humanitarian efforts of the Jordanian authorities and a number of institutions that have supported the health and well-being of Syrians and Palestinians seeking refuge in Jordan for decades.
During their visit, the Sussexes met with Jordanian leaders and senior health officials, met with WHO teams, visited frontline health and mental health programs and met with World Central Kitchen staff coordinating food aid from Amman to Gaza.
But a PR expert said the couple’s fans were left confused about their roles and they needed to work on their brand strategy to avoid disappointment.
Renae Smith, founder of PR and branding agency atticismHe told the Daily Express: “The biggest strategic issue is compliance.
“If Harry is doing humanitarian travel and Meghan is scaling a commercial lifestyle brand, these two narratives need to be complementary, not parallel.
“Often, when a public figure successfully combines business and cause, there is a clear through line connecting the two. Consider brands that tie the product to the cause in a measurable way. Without this, it can feel like two separate tracks competing for attention.”

Ms Smith added: “And again, I think they have very different stripes now and it might be time to stop trying to combine them. Let them stand independently.”
Elsewhere, the PR guru said that for such a visit to “truly change perception” the Sussexes would need to give it “a measurable impact, a strong narrative hook or a defining moment that cuts through the noise”.
But he exploded: “There was none of that on this trip. It gave a sense of casual competence, but it wasn’t strategic.”
